Reverse Martingale Roulette Strategy
Reverse Martingale is what it sounds like: instead of doubling after a loss, you double after a win. The idea is to press hot streaks while keeping cold streaks cheap. It is often called Anti-Martingale or, with a 3-win cap, Paroli.
Reverse Martingale has a lower bust risk than classic Martingale, but the long-run expected return is identical: minus the house edge on every dollar wagered.
How Reverse Martingale works
- Start at a base bet, for example $10 on red.
- Win: double the next bet to $20.
- Win again: double to $40.
- Continue until either: a loss occurs (reset to base) or you hit a win cap (typically 3 wins, reset).
- Loss: reset immediately to base.
Why the win cap exists
Without a cap, the system would press until the inevitable loss wipes out all the progress. With a 3-win cap, a clean cycle locks in 7 base units of profit: $10 + $20 + $40 = $70 returned as $80 (the 3rd win pays 1:1 on $40), netting +$70 minus the original $10 in if you count the wagered base.
Most published Paroli variants use a 3-win cap. Aggressive variants use 4 or 5, but expected value is unchanged - only volatility changes.

Bankroll behaviour
Reverse Martingale has a flat-ish bankroll with occasional jumps when a 3-win cycle completes. Losses are always at base bet, so cold streaks are slow and cheap.
Compared to Martingale, the graph looks almost inverted - long flat sections with positive spikes instead of long flat sections with negative cliffs.
Variance profile
Probability of 3 wins in a row on European red: (18/37)3 = 11.5%. So roughly 1 in 9 cycles completes. The losses between cycles are small but frequent.
Across 200 spins of $10 base on European, expected total wagered is around $2,500. Expected loss is ~$67. Single sessions vary widely - some end at +$200, some at −$100. Average lands near the expected loss.

Common mistakes
- Removing the cap. Without a cap, the system always ends a streak with a loss that swallows the cycle.
- Pressing on inside bets. The math breaks immediately - one loss after one win on 35:1 wipes everything.
- Increasing the cap during a session. Pick the cap before you start and do not move it.
- Treating wins as proof. A 3-win cycle is not unusual. Variance produced it, not the system.
